Ms. Lemme has come to Rutgers Prep from working at a private boarding school in Connecticut.
“My favorite high school classes were math and art,” Ms. Lemme said.
In college, she was a tutor and a teacher’s assistant.
Ms. Lemme also has a passion for running. She ran cross country in high school as well as in college.
“Everyone works hard and is supportive of one another,” Ms. Lemme said.
Initially learning about and becoming familiar with Rutger Prep online, Ms. Lemme quickly understood and appreciated the atmosphere of the community.
Ms. Lemme said, “I was surprised by a number of students that do their homework! Most of the students seem motivated and hard-working, which is awesome.”
“I spent most of my time in western Massachusetts, but made short trips to Maine, Kansas, and California.”
Not only as a math teacher and coach, but a new part of the community, Ms. Lemme has proven to be a significantly positive addition to the Upper School staff of Rutgers Prep.
Mr. Radziewicz’s music education background comes from Rider University’s Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.
Mr. Radziewicz’s love for teaching came from his experience of coaching baseball at the high school, college, and professional levels.
As a serious baseball player, majoring in music was not an option; Mr. Radziewicz could not fulfill all the major’s requirements, including singing in certain choirs.
“Not to sound religious, but I was involved quite heavily with my church’s program, especially handbells,” Mr. Radziewicz said.
After school, Mr. Radziewicz got drafted to the St. Louis Cardinals and played for five years. Ultimately, he hoped to become a division one coach.
“The further I got in the system, the more I realized it wasn’t for me,” Mr. Radziewicz said. “About six or seven years ago, I knew I didn’t want to do baseball full time anymore… I miss having the ability to play, but I don’t miss playing.”
Mr. Radziewicz explained his audition process, and the fact that “it went well enough for [the school] to offer [him] the job:”
When Mr. Radziewicz attended Somerville High School, he performed in some drama productions but said how he differed from the way he is now.
On coming to Rutgers Prep, Mr. Radziewicz said, “Trying to get to learn and know everyone around here is a bit overwhelming. But I just have to take my time, especially music-wise, because I’m replacing Mrs. Szeles who’s been here close to 40 years. I have to get to know people, and they need to get to know me.”
