Although Mr. Ryan Klipstein is not new to our Rutgers Prep community, he is new in the teaching field at RPS. Mr. Klipstein joined the History Department and teaches Civilizations, World History, and Economics. He will also be coaching Boys Lacrosse and Boys JV Basketball.
Mr. Klipstein attended Rutgers Prep for 15 years and decided to go to Bucknell University for his undergraduate studies. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Education.
During his high school and college years, Mr. Klipstein participated in a variety of sports. In high school, he played soccer for two years, basketball for one year, he swam for three years, and played lacrosse for all four years. After high school, Mr. Klipstein decided to focus on only one sport and played lacrosse in college.
Before deciding to teach at Rutgers Prep, Mr. Klipstein was a college lacrosse coach for five years. His first coached at Williams College in Massachusetts, then he worked at the University of Pennsylvania for two years, and lastly he worked at the College of the Holy Cross for two more years.
The fact that Mr. Klipstein attended Rutgers Prep for a large number of years was not the only reason why he wanted to come back and teach here: “ I have a long family history here and I grew up idolizing my grandfather who was the athletic director here but also Rutgers Prep has a message that I believe in,” Mr. Klipstein said.
He believes the leadership at Rutgers Prep is fantastic and that it was one of the main reasons why he was so intrigued to come back. Mr. Klipstein really enjoys working here and takes pleasure in seeing his old teachers.
He explained his first couple weeks as a teacher by saying: “ Everybody is really engaged in the first couple of weeks naturally. I went to school here so it’s fun to see it in a different perspective and fun to see the other teachers and live their lives a little bit.”
Mr. Klipstein enjoys being a teacher because he really enjoys working with others and helping them out. He said, “The job never gets boring, it’s always interesting.”
During his free time, Mr. Klipstein coaches a club lacrosse team, and also enjoys hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities in general. His family has a house in the Poconos where they hike, camp, and hunt a lot. He also likes to workout and enjoys seeing his younger brothers on the weekends.
Mr. Klipstein also enjoys watching movies and TV shows. He enjoys sappy sports movies, such as the Rocky series and Rudy. Some TV shows he enjoys watching are True Detective, Pretty Little Liars, Orange is the New Black, The Night Of and American Crime- which he admitted to being painful to watch.
Mr. Klipstein is very excited to be part of the Rutgers Prep community as a teacher and all in all is thrilled to see what comes out of it. Welcome back, Mr. Klipstein!
