New Coaching Staff for Girls SoccerWith a new coaching staff consisting of Tony Mento, Robert Szeles and Roger Krikorian, the 2016 Girls’ soccer team of Rutgers Prep is on the verge of being very successful this season and for many more years to come. Prior to coaching the varsity and JV teams, both Coach Mento and Coach Szeles led the middle school team here at RPS. Their goals for the team were and still are to “try and bring together a bunch of young talented players with a solid returning core of players to compete for our conference crown and be competitive in any tournament we enter. We [the entire coaching staff] care most about the positive energy we wish to see on the field”, said Mento.
According to Mento, “The Gill game proved to our players that we belong and that the hard work they put in has been validated. However, they are not anywhere close to done yet. We believe we are just scratching the surface of our potential and we should be much improved by State Tournament time.”Recently Rutgers Prep was ranked eighth in the Skyland conference, however, they beat seventh seed South Hunterdon 1-0 in an exciting match last Thursday afternoon. Be on the lookout for upcoming RPS Girls Soccer games and come out to support the team.
